Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that the City of Los Angeles will provide support for families who may be affected by a labor action at the Los Angeles Unified School District. The City will keep 32 recreation centers open for extended hours, including the Sepulveda Recreation Center. Added staff, special programming for elementary school youth, and lunch will be provided on regular school days, from 8 am to 4 pm. Parents must fill out a registration form for children who go to the recreation centers. Metro and the City’s DASH bus service will also provide free rides from 5 am to 7 pm for students with an LAUSD school ID. All available LAPD staff, including Captains, will be on patrol duty.
