Street Lights Repaired

Street Lights Repaired

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez reports:

Copper wire theft and vandalism have a direct and harmful impact on neighborhood safety and a single copper wire theft can cause several blocks of streetlights to go dark. I secured $308,400 of funding for the repair and fortification of street lights. Through this effort, we repaired and fortified 481 lights and repaired 5 lights for a total of 486 restorations. The additional funding I secured helped reduce the department’s backlog in our district and will lead to a reduced wait time to repair all of our remaining street light outages.

If you witness someone tampering with street lights or other suspicious activities near our street lights, please call 9-1-1. Only city marked vehicles with exempt plates and a city seal should be near our street lights. If you see a location where street lights are in need of city service, please report it using the city’s free 3-1-1 service by downloading the MyLA311 mobile app on your smartphone, visiting myla311.lacity.org, or by dialing 3-1-1.
